rStheCon Welcome Party 2016

I was so thankful and honored to be invited to this year’s rewardStyle conference, a gathering of the top brands and bloggers in the company for classes, networking, and meetings. As a blogger, I always hope that I am giving you inspiration and helping you get ideas for styling your looks, but it’s sometimes difficult to find a barometer of that success and being included in this event really made me feel confident and happy about what I’ve accomplished since launching The Cashmere Gypsy in August of last year. And after the conference I’m even more inspired and motivated to keep creating and sharing with you!

You can get a peek at my airport style look and my suitcases (which are now on sale) in my first #rStheCon post HERE. That post also includes a coupon code for Daniel Wellington watches, so be sure to check it out if you’re looking for Mother’s Day and grad presents like me.

This was my look for our first #rStheCon event, a rooftop pool party sponsored by Missguided. The weather was perfection… There was a slight breeze in the warm Dallas air and the rooftop pool at The Joule hotel glowed with the sunset in the background. There was a DJ, pretty purple lights, pink flamingos, and prickly pear flavored drinks like a little tropical oasis right in the middle of Dallas. I was able to meet so many new bloggers and many of the people who help me at rewardStyle as well. It was a great way to connect and share stories and blogging experiences with others going through the same thing.

This top and skirt are so flattering and both run true to size. I’m going on another trip soon and will be wearing this beautiful set again there… It’s just so fresh and feminine. I added my classic beige clutch that goes with everything and pink suede heels for a little pop of color.

I’ve gotten so many questions and compliments on my bracelet because I wear it all the time and it goes with everything. It’s from the Kendra Scott Color Bar but you can make your own version online – it’s the Brynn Link Bracelet style with gold metal and iridescent drusy stones all around.

I think this outfit would be perfect for spring and summer events like weddings, bridal and baby showers, graduations, and brunches. I can’t wait to pair this top with jeans in future looks as well. Let me know what events and travel you have coming up this spring and summer… I’d love to tailor my looks around the things you have coming up and help you style some outfits!

    • Thank you so much, Maggie!! The shoes are so cute!! My favorite features are that they’re comfortable AND you only have to lace them up once and then you can just unzip/zip at the back. xoxo B.

  2. Loving the tie front this Spring and this is a great way to rock it. Classic and feminine with a worthwhile pop of color. Perfect way to meet and greet. 🙂

I am in Dallas and can finally tell you my work trip I’ve mentioned is the rewardStyle annual blogger conference, known affectionately as #rStheCon to those of us addicted to social media. An invitation to this conference was a major goal of mine and I am so incredibly excited to be here and share it all with you! I’ll be posting photos and videos from all the festivities this weekend on my Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and Snapchat @brittanypillard. And blog posts featuring all my #rStheCon looks will be up starting next week!

Whenever I go to an event or work function like this, I like to wear a classic watch like this one to make sure I stay on time and make it to all my meetings. I love the texture on the strap and the rose gold detail gives the watch a feminine touch. Just in time for Mother’s Day and grad gifts, you can get 15% off your Daniel Wellington order by using code BRITTANYPILLARD from now until May 30th. Let me know what you pick out!

This unscented makeup removing wipes are perfect for taking off makeup at the end of the day before cleansing. I also use them before workout sessions to remove makeup and after workout sessions to remove sweat and oil.

Biossance The Purifier Cleansing Oil

This cleansing oil has a beautiful all-natural botanical fragrance. The Purifier gently cleanses skin without leaving a greasy residue like most cleansing oils I’ve tried. I love how it cleanses and moisturizes at the same time. It is a pro at makeup removal.

$30.00 – Available Here

Pixi Glow Tonic Exfoliating Toner

This inexpensive glycolic acid toner is a necessary post-cleansing ritual for me. It minimizes my pores while removing that dead, dull top layer of skin… And all without scrubbing or scratching.

$15.00 – Available Here

Chanel Le Coton Luxe Cotton Pads

The softest, gentlest cotton pads you will ever find. I didn’t realize how much my old cotton pads were scratching and scraping my skin until I applied toner with these the first time and it didn’t sting. My skincare routine is forever changed. Cut them in half like I do to make them last twice as long.

$20.00 – Available Here

Shiseido Anti-Dark Circles Eye Cream

This eye cream works wonders for dark circles and sleepless nights. It’s the only eye cream that has ever made a visible difference in my dark circles and fine lines.

Biossance The Revitalizer Moisturizing Concentrate

This is the wonder serum I’ve included in so many of my favorites videos. My friend said it made their skin look like, “Maybe she’s born with it!” and it’s so very true. This moisturizing serum can be applied anywhere and everywhere you want to see refreshed, nourished results. I layer mine on my face, lips, neck, cuticles, and hands at night and in the morning I wake up looking rejuvenated.

Earrings.  Sunnies.  Jumpsuit.  Bag in Similar Color.  Alex+Ani Bracelets.  Heels.

I am so glad you talked me into this jumpsuit when I asked you about it from the dressing room on Instagram! I used my birthday discount and it was the smartest purchase I’ve made this season because this jumpsuit is the most flattering, most comfortable piece I own! Not to mention its silky fabric is in such a beautiful, soft lilac color. (It’s also available in a soft rose color.) It runs true to size, but if you’re between sizes I would go a size up for a slouchy, relaxed look. The little snap at the chest will keep it from being too big or overexposed and the drawstring waist makes it adjustable.

This jumpsuit will be going on all my spring/summer trips with me because it can easily be dressed down for daytime events with strappy flats and a cross-body bag or dressed up for dinner by adding heels and a clutch.

Speaking of heels, I couldn’t wait to wear these beauties for this post! They are one of my recent purchases and I just can’t get over the incredible details and embellishments on them. They will be the major statement piece to so many spring + summer outfits and they would look perfect with the ankle jeans I recently wrote about. If you’re ordering, they run true to size so go with the size you normally wear.

Nude Pink Matte Lip Tutorial

Nyx Nude Matte Lip Tutorial

Lip Liner in Peek-a-Boo Natural.  Liquid Lipstick in Lace Detail.

As you probably know, I love beauty products and I always seem to get pulled in by pretty packaging and intriguing marketing. The Kylie Lip Kits were no exception. The $29 kits include a lip pencil, a matte liquid lipstick, and are available on KyleCosmetics.com. They’ve been selling out left and right (including today with the launch of her new glosses) and admittedly, I climbed on the Kardashian bandwagon earlier this week when I sat there at my computer clicking the refresh button until her online shop was restocked and Kylie Lip Kits were available for purchase.

I had them in my cart (Posie K, Candy K, and Koko K are my favorites) and even submitted my order with credit card info included but the website was overcrowded with purchasers and after 30 minutes of waiting for an order confirmation, the website informed me that everything was sold out. I sat there feeling a little frustrated and a lot sheepish, considering I’m twenty-nine years old and just wasted 45 minutes of my life hoping for a Kylie Jenner Lip Kit. You can judge… I’m judging myself as we speak.

I decided there had to be a similar product combination that would give the same results… Maybe even one I would like more. So I ventured into Ulta and started searching for options. I discovered this beautiful soft-matte nude lip combo with just a hint of pink that will give you the most luscious 90’s lip look.

Lip Liner in Peek-a-Boo Natural.  Liquid Lipstick in Lace Detail.

In the short video above, I show you exactly how I get this lip look using only two products that together cost less than $11. I think this lip look is the perfect update to your spring and summer makeup look. It adds just a little edge without being too trendy or over the top.

  1. Prep – – Exfoliate your lips first. I like to use a little lip scrub in the shower every day. Then before you apply your makeup, add a light layer of lip balm to keep lips moisturized.
  2. Mattify – – This step isn’t necessary, but if you’d like a really mattified lip look dab just a tiny bit of your foundation over your lips with your finger. Use a damp beautyblender to blend it out.
  3. Line – – Using this beautiful nude-pink lip liner, slightly over-line your lips. I like to focus the line right on my natural lip line and just slightly over, which keeps the liner from looking too clownish. Remember to line all the way around your lips, including down to the corners of the mouth.
  4. Liquid Lipstick – – Apply the slightly lighter nude-pink liquid lipstick to your lips. Reapply for a bit more pigment, making sure you extend the lip color on top of the liner for a more blended look. Give your lip look a second to dry before eating or drinking.
  5. Highlight – – I like to keep the rest of my makeup more glowy and highlighted when I do a matte lip. I apply “Moonstone” highlighter to cheekbones and down my nose. I use this shimmery “Bare Study” cream highlighter to highlight my brow bones and the inner corners of my eyes. If you’d like to add just a hint of shine to your lips, apply a tiny dab of this “Éclair” creamy lip gloss… It adds a touch of light pink shine without being too glossy.

What do you think of the matte lip look and the Kylie Lip Kits? I’d love to hear your experience with them if you were one of the lucky ones to snag a kit! And please let me know if you try this nude-pink matte lip look and what you think.

  1. Stephanie says:

How do the NYX products hold up all day, any flaking or lip liner bleeding? I had looked into getting some of the Colourpop matte lipsticks, but after reading reviews, I read that they do flake off a lot, and the actual product is much darker than it appears in the tube.

    • Hi Stephanie!! I wore this combo to a 3-hour hair appointment sipping a drink throughout, then reapplied a bit of the liquid lipstick right after. With the steps I mentioned (exfoliating first is important!) it stayed on through errands after the appointment and working on my computer at home!! When my husband got home, he even commented on how great my makeup looked!! The liquid lipstick feels a bit tacky at first (not sticky, just like it’s drying) but then it dries to a nice, long-lasting finish. As far as the color goes, I would say the Nyx Lingerie could be a BIT darker on the lip versus in the tube, but it’s really really close.
