Taking you to another one of my favorite Denver spots today… Crêpes n’ Crêpes in Cherry Creek North. We love coming here for breakfast or for dessert and coffee after dinner. The ambiance always reminds me of Europe; sitting at tables outdoors, soft music playing, and everyone quietly talking for hours. It’s different than any other spot in Denver and it makes me remember many similar post-dinner moments with my family in London. I always order the sugar and blueberry crêpe but my husband insists the Nutella crêpe is the best. Either way, I don’t think you can go wrong!
I have a bit of bad news… This adorable bow sweater I’m wearing in this post is currently out of stock. It’s currently on sale and the sale price made the sweater sell out incredibly fast before I could even get these photos up. I’m hoping the sweater is restocked and I’ll keep you updated in this blog post and on Instagram.
On the bright side, I’ve searched all over online to gather my favorite similar bow items in this post. Above, I’ve linked a selection of pieces with the most darling bow accents. A cozy knit beanie, a beautiful lace sleeveless top, a short-sleeve sweater in the same colors as the one I’m wearing, a crisp ivory bow blouse, and a gorgeous gray sweater with rosette bow detail. I think they are perfect and I hope you have fun shopping them!
We are back from our Thanksgiving road trip and Denver has officially turned chilly… No more mid-80’s fall weather. I’ve been indulging in my favorite almond milk latte from Cherry Creek coffee spot Aviano a little more than usual lately and my fluffy slippers have been making a daily appearance. Still, I’m not complaining because I love changing seasons and feeling cozy inside while the weather is blustering outside.
I adore this outfit because it is so classic and timeless; whenever I wear it I feel polished and put together. I purchased this camel coat last year and it’s quickly become one of my favorites due to its classic style and luxe look. It runs true to size and is currently close to selling out, although I think they will probably restock after the craziness of the sales has died down. I did link a very similar one that’s on sale and offers more sizes if you’re looking to purchase soon.
My tweed dress is no longer listed on the J. Crew Factory website… It either sold out or they have taken it down while the deep sitewide discount is going on. Either way, I’ll keep you updated on this post and via my Instagram @brittanypillard. I really like this similar style that’s on sale. And if you love tweed as much as I do, take a look at this dress that would be stunning paired with the winter white coat I’m wearing in this post.
By the way, I finished my Gilmore Girls marathon just in time for the reunion episodes over Thanksgiving. We drove a total of 34 hours in six days and I just tethered my laptop to my phone and watched episode after episode. I thought they were wonderful, I was stunned by the ending, and I’m wishing for a new Gilmore Girls season! In the meantime, we’ve started watching The Crown which requires a bit more attention and I’m not able to work and write emails while I watch like I do with other shows… But it’s fascinating and the costuming is incredible. It’s one J will even watch with me because he loves British history. Any shows you’ve been addicted to lately?

I think winter white looks are so iconic; you just don’t forget them easily because they make a majorly chic statement. W by Worth has created this gorgeous winter white skirt and two-tone jacket made from an incredible crackled faux leather material that gives the outfit so much texture. My favorite way to wear winter white is paired with black to create a timeless look that pops.
This is my third W by Worth outfit and the first I’ve featured here on The Cashmere Gypsy. I love the high-quality material and their beautiful designs. The first time I wore one of their pieces I was wearing a navy blue dress during NYFW and even at the end of a ninety-five degree day walking and sweating from show to show, it looked beautiful and crisp. This outfit is no different; each time I place it back on the hanger I find myself wondering how soon I’ll be able to wear it again. I know it’s easy to be a little timid of wearing white looks, but trust me… This is one you will find yourself reaching for over and over again.
Give them something they can use. Bath products, candles, and serving pieces are popular for a reason: everyone needs them and they are therefore gifts that can be used up or used over and over again. We all have homes overflowing with trinkets, but your loved one will appreciate a lovely-smelling candle, a marble cheese slab, or a beautiful slate tray to serve appetizers to guests.
Bring something scrumptious. If you’re still undecided, remember that food is a gift that will always be used! This gourmet heart-shaped rum cake is not only beautiful, it will never disappoint since any holiday host will appreciate one less item off his or her to-do list.
Go neutral. It can be difficult to purchase decor for someone else’s home. When in doubt, stick to neutrals. This Mongolian lamb’s wool pillow and cable-knit throw blanket are both in a beautiful shade of gray that can mix and match with nearly any decor. The champagne gold magnolia wreath is another addition anyone can use inside or outside their home.
Gift them something to preserve memories. I’ve found that everyone loves a photo frame; bonus points if you’ve already tucked a memorable photo inside. This 3×3 rose gold frame is perfect for documenting a favorite Instagram snap. And I think this marble frame would look amazing with a black and white travel photo inside.
Surprise them with something funny. I love receiving gifts that make me laugh. I found this darling little trinket tray and I think it would be the perfect gift for a friend or sister. “Champagne, s’il vous plaît”… Can’t we all relate?!
This is one of my favorite looks I’ve featured this fall. (I say that nearly every time, don’t I?! What can I say… I just truly love styling looks.) I like this one because it can really go anywhere this holiday season depending on the accessories you pair it with. It fits in at the office, can be dressed up for date night or holiday parties, and can even go a little cozy for your family activities.
I finished making my shopping list and am slowly wrapping a few gifts here and there as I find treasures for the people on my list. I can’t wait to decorate after Thanksgiving… My husband has protested me decorating the tree any sooner! When I wrap gifts or decorate our home I like to listen to something festive in the background. Can you tell me your favorite holiday playlists or tv channels for holiday movies?
A special thanks to the woman I met at a recent event who told me about these treasures! I use them to remove my makeup at night and they leave my skin feeling fresh and clean without the greasy feeling so many makeup wipes leave behind. Bonus? I can use as many as I want without feeling guilty since they are so affordable.
I grabbed this when I was looking for an inexpensive eye cream and I love the larger size in comparison to so many tiny eye cream jars I’ve often used. The creamy formula moisturizes and helps to hide my fine lines and dark circles.
A light hydrating mist for the face made from pure essential oils of rose, sandalwood, and neroli. It smells like the most dreamy spa experience and is perfect for refreshing makeup and skin throughout the day.
I use this dry shampoo every day to keep my hair looking fresh between washes. It smells wonderful and the light texture doesn’t weigh my hair down or make it chalky. If you prefer a dark version for brunette roots, you can find it here.
This hair spray’s flexible hold makes it nice and light, preventing hard and stiff-looking styles. I love how soft and bouncy my hair feels when I use this. It’s light enough to be used throughout the day to fluff and rejuvenate hair.
A modern, fresh, crisp take on the original Chanel No. 5, L’EAU features notes of lemon, mandarin, and orange then unfolds into a feminine scent with rose, jasmine, and ylang-ylang. I love wearing this every day as it’s pretty and light without being overwhelming.
This light cushion makeup with SPF 50 is perfect to wear every day. I’m in the color “Light Medium” and although it’s technically a BB cream, I find this product really easy to layer and build wherever I need a little extra coverage.
This creamy, full-coverage foundation really lives up to its name. I’ve been using this as my photoshoot and evening makeup, or whenever I need a little extra coverage. Use a damp beauty blender to blend this out over skin and it will create the most beautiful, airbrushed finish.
I’ve been using this eye shadow palette in “Vintage Vamp” nonstop lately. The gold and burgundy tones are perfect for fall and winter and mix beautifully with highlighted cheeks and a rose-colored lip.
This brow kit includes both cream and powder brow color, mini tweezers, and a dual-ended brow brush. I’m in the color “3-Medium” and I use the angled side of the brow brush with both cream and powder brow products to create my brow look. I love that I have everything I need for brows in this one little kit.
This lip liner in “Pillowtalk” is nearly the exact color of the lipstick I’ve linked below. The creamy texture and similar color allows me to slightly overline my lips and color them in before I apply lipstick and lip gloss, creating a nice plump look.
This beautiful rose-nude creamy lipstick in “Penelope Pink” is my current favorite. It’s hydrating and soft on the lips and I find that it lasts longer than most lipsticks I own. Pair with the lip liner and lip gloss I’ve linked and you’ll have a really gorgeous lip look flattering on nearly any skin tone.
I love the way this slightly shimmery lip gloss looks with the Charlotte Tilbury rose-nude lip duo. It really does plump lips; it tingles just a bit, then gives lip a fresh, plump look. It does work better with bare lips, but I find I still get a nice plumping effect when I layer it on top of other lip products.
My heart is a creative one; it has been that way ever since I can remember. Before I could write, I narrated stories for my father to document. I spent hours creating other worlds right in the middle of the woods near the home where I grew up. And that creative spirit never left me; I began writing online as a creative outlet when I was in law school, sitting amongst piles of cases and books. By choosing to stay up at night and write during my law school years, I was usually forcing myself to survive on four hours of sleep or forgo it altogether. But writing and photography and creating content kept me sane.
The other day I was editing a contract and I laughed to myself as I thought about how everything happens for a reason and somehow comes together. That’s not to say everything is perfect; sometimes I think how much easier a traditional nine-to-five job would be. I would work less hours, it could pay more, and everything wouldn’t be resting on my shoulders. But I’ve done that and I wouldn’t be as happy… And there wouldn’t be you.
So very much of what I do is for you – my readers. This past week, I reached 25,000 followers on Instagram. And it still humbles me to know that 25,000 of you enjoy my content and like the same things I do. 25,000… More than six times the size of the town where I grew up. I’ve always felt a little different, and then I found this group of people who also love vintage inspiration and classic style and romantic decor. I see each and every ‘like’ and comment and email and it means everything to know you are there.
Over the years, I was told I couldn’t do certain things. I was told I wasn’t great at volleyball and I shouldn’t join the team. (Okay, this one was true and not playing volleyball in high school saved me a lot of embarrassment.) I was told a company I admired didn’t take interns as young as me, but I sat sweating and shaking through the interview until I got the summer internship… Then was asked to stay on part-time while I was in college. I was told I couldn’t pass the LSAT to get into law school and that I wouldn’t graduate… I swear the naysayers pushed me more than anyone else and I couldn’t have been happier as I walked across the graduation stage that day. And I’m sure you can imagine the negativity I’ve faced when I told people I wanted to blog full-time.
But that number – that 25,000 – makes me feel a lot better about any negativity I’ve experienced surrounding what I do. I know I’m on the right track and I am already dreaming up all the things I want to create for you in the near future and beyond. I want to inspire you, help you decide what trends you should embrace and which you should leave behind, share my beauty tips with you, and take you with me when I travel. I love what I do and I can’t tell you how wonderful it makes me feel when you tell me my content has inspired you or helped you in some way. So thank you for taking this journey with me and for being there for me every step of the way.
To the 25,000… This is for you!!
P.S. This week has been one for celebrations… Earlier this week, we celebrated a belated one-year blogiversary for The Cashmere Gypsy and now we’re celebrating 25k on Instagram. I couldn’t do it without you. Please let me know if there’s any content or specific posts you’d like to see on TheCashmereGypsy.com and I will do my best to make you happy.
It was definitely unexpected! I wasn’t necessarily happy in law school and then out of desperation for my creativity, I started taking photographs and writing. It was then I started feeling truly happy with what I was doing and I knew I should pursue something a little more creative. I made sure I finished school so that I would have that degree under my belt. I use it nearly every day when negotiating with companies and creating or editing contracts so I’m definitely thankful for it.
There are definitely times when I miss the stable, 9-to-5 environment of a traditional job. On the hard days, I occasionally question what I’m doing. But it’s always there if someday I decide to return to it. Right now, I really love a flexible and creative environment even if that means more working hours and a little less pay.
This outfit was inspired by this cute little tee I found. I couldn’t resist… The luxe velvet blazer and the soft cable knit beret just gave me all these French girl vibes and I had to put them all together. If you’ve been a longtime reader, you know I like incorporating current trends in a classic way so the pieces last longer in my closet. In this look, I’ve incorporated a beret, velvet, a graphic tee, raw-hem denim, and a block heel… All current trends, but none of these pieces are too extreme so you can get much more wear out of them.
Fit Details… My favorite piece in this look is probably the velvet blazer; it has the most beautiful details including striped lining and pink interior trim. It runs true to size, as does the tee I paired with it. The jeans I’m wearing run true to size and are in a nice thin, stretchy, flexible fabric… If you’re in between sizes, I would go a size down due to the stretch. They are super comfortable and would look amazing paired with a big sweater for the holidays.
I love your blog, its refreshing and has always seemed authentic! I also love your style and your handbag collection! I was wondering if you would recommend the chanel bag as an ‘everyday’ type bag, I have a M/L black flap, but it does not hold as much as I would like for everyday use. Do you recommend the jumbo? I always thought silver hardware was easier to wear, but the gold seems “classic”. Would love to know what you think about the gabrielle hobo they just came out with!
I do recommend the Chanel Classic Flap as an everyday bag. I think both the Maxi and Jumbo sizes hold A LOT – I can fit my wallet, cards, phone, keys, and makeup in mine with no problems. I have mostly silver hardware and I tend to mix metals with jewelry, etc. I’ve heard that the gold eventually shows wear and tear but I actually haven’t experienced that (at least yet) with my beige + gold Medium Classic Flap.
I love the versatility of the Gabrielle bag; the way it can be worn crossbody or on the shoulder, etc. But… If I’m being honest, I think the distressed leather looks a bit cheap. That’s just my personal opinion and I hate saying that about one of my favorite designers. I am waiting for them to come out with the Gabrielle in a suede or tweed in place of the distressed leather. I’ve heard they will offer these options this A/W and for Resort and S/S18 as well. Fingers crossed!!
Such a cute outfit! I’ll need to check out this Crepe place ASAP-thanks for sharing!
