Our Wedding Trailer

I am so excited to be able to show you a little sneak peek into our wedding day!!

VHVIDEO.COM were our videographers for our wedding weekend and they also visited us to film our couple’s story on one of Colorado’s beautiful fall days before the wedding.  It was a way for us to tell our love story to people who might only know John or only know me at our wedding.  The video was beautiful, even showcased our dogs, and was shown on giant video monitors after guests entered the reception from the cocktail party.

VHVIDEO.COM was so incredible to work with we had no doubts they would make our wedding day enjoyable and capture all the moments that were near and dear to our hearts for us to look back on and remember always.  Any of you who are married know that after the wedding you can feel a little sad it’s all over, and photo and video can help you relive that special day for years to come.

I wanted to give you this little sneak peek into our special day before I begin sharing all our moments event by event next week.  Enjoy!!

  1. Brittany says:

Beautiful! I'm planning a September wedding and stuff like this makes me excited!

  2. Ashley says:

So beautiful! Investing in a videographer for our wedding was the BEST decision we made for our wedding day. I still get teary eyed watching the video almost 2 years later!

    • We heard so many stories similar to yours, we knew we couldn't skip a videographer!! That makes me so happy to hear 🙂 I can't wait to get our full version back!! I'm totally going to be the crazy girl sitting in my wedding dress and watching it over and over!! xo

  3. Samantha says:

Hi Brittany! Wow, your wedding was gorgeous! After you are done posting about all the fascinating little pieces, could you maybe do a post on how you organized your budget? I am working with a budget of 25K and I would like to make it as magical as yours. Especially with the videographer and painter! WOW!! <3 <3 xx

    • Hi Samantha, I would love to do a video on the budget but I'd like to keep it private and sometimes posts and videos where I discuss finances or budgets get people upset. For that reason, I tend to stay away from those topics to avoid negativity. 🙁

But… I'll do a little mini post just for you right here 🙂

We worked with a budget our wedding planner made for us, but you can find similar ones by googling 'wedding budget breakdown' and people have created documents where you can just punch in your total budget and it breaks down what you should spend by category. A lot of wedding planning books have this in them as well, but just google it and download for free!!

You can definitely have a wonderful wedding with your budget… I've seen it done!! I would make a list of what things are absolutely most important to you. Then you can move the budget around from category to category to fit your preferences.

Things I would suggest splurging on?? A band totally sets the tone and energy of your wedding. Also… Photography and videography because those are things that last forever.

Things to save on?? Church programs and wedding favors because they almost always get thrown away. Also… If you find a cheaper dress that fits you well, you can pay for a great tailor to customize it and tailor it perfectly to your body. See if a local cooking school would cater your event, since food and beverage is often the largest expense. Simple comfort foods like mini burgers and mac n' cheese are popular now, so go with it and save a bit there!! Also… Limit the booze to beer and wine instead of liquor and you can save a lot of money, plus save the embarrassment of drunken guests!!

      Hope this helps!! Xo Britt

  4. It was the ultimate fairy tale – know, cos I was there! Xxx

Anguilla

March 25, 2015

Categories: Travel, Wedding

Reluctantly saying goodbye to St. Barth, we boarded a tiny island-hopper plane for a 15-minute flight to Anguilla, a long and thin British island lying directly north of St. Maarten where we first arrived from the U.S.  The island is much different than volcanic-formed, hilly St. Barth.  Anguilla was formed from limestone and coral and is very flat, with much less vegetation.

Dress.  Necklace.  Similar Shoes.  Similar Bracelets.

“I’ve chosen to be happy because it is good for my health.”
– Voltaire

Do you ever get a little mopey and down on everything?  Maybe someone hasn’t been nice to you or things are stressful at work or home?  I ran across this quote and it touched my heart.  There is so much negativity in our world and I’m not sure why because each day we wake up is truly a blessing.  Not to get too philosophical on you, but when you think about it aren’t we so lucky to have the gift of life?

I’ve been working on some exciting stuff to take this sacred space of mine even farther.  I love inspiring you with style and beauty tips, but I also want to be a positive force in this crazy world and if I could inspire you to do the same, just think how much positivity we could generate together!

These photos were taken during our little mini-vacay in California this month.  We were enjoying the warm sunshine and soaking it up like sponges.  This dress is one of my favorites I purchased for our honeymoon and I couldn’t wait to wear it again in California.  There’s something about a beautiful cream boho dress that makes any day or event feel so fresh and ethereal.

Wishing you a little sunshine… And lots of happiness this week!

White Ruffle Top + Embroidered Skirt

Oh, how I adored this serene little garden at The Langham Hotel in Pasadena.  We discovered it on a morning walk before breakfast.

I found this cute outfit at Nordstrom before I left on my trip.  I immediately fell in love with the beautiful pattern and coral embroidery in the skirt… There is an adorable matching top that would really make a great outfit with this skirt, but ultimately I decided to go with this laser-cut white top because I felt I could pair it with more.  The length is really flattering and to be blunt, the little ruffle gives an extra boost to your bust!!

This is perfect for spring and summer date nights, graduations, weddings, and parties.  As you guys know, I really love items I can dress up or dress down.  This one is easy to dress down a bit more with strappy gladiator-style sandals and adding a simple fitted white tank.

Right now Nordstrom is hosting their Triple Points Event where Nordstrom cardholders can get triple the points on dollars spent in stores and online.  I love purchasing items during this event because it means Nordstrom Notes coming my way… More free dollars in my pocket!!  The event ends on Sunday March 22nd, so hurry!!  It’s a great time to stock up on beauty products and basics, or treat yourself to some spring goodies.

If you follow me on Twitter, I tweeted last night about adding a little marble charm to the beaded stack I’ve been wearing lately.  Pandora is having their Free Bracelet Promo right now, offering a free bracelet with any $100+ purchase.  It’s a great time to add a bracelet to your stack, or purchase a gift for someone… You automatically get the bracelet free, so I’ve used the promo as a way to start a bracelet for a bride or a new mommy.  This promo ends Sunday March 22nd.

I don’t even want to tell you about this next promo, but I will because I am a good bloggerLilly Pulitzer is offering a free gift with any purchase, and the gifts continue to add on and get better as you spend more!!  This promo is only Saturday March 21st and trust me, the gifts sell out quickly… So if you’re looking to get a cute free Lilly keychain, free Lilly jewelry set, or even a free Lilly tote, you need to have your shopping list handy and purchase your items as soon as you can on Saturday.  I’ve waited before and lost out on getting some of my favorite exclusive gifts because as soon as they’re gone, they’re gone.

Wishing you all some beautiful spring weather this weekend… Take time to get outside and be thankful that the days are getting longer and warmer!!

  1. That is a perfect outfit for the start of spring! The whole composition is beautiful in those gardens.

  2. Stephanie says:

Ohh I NEED that skirt! I love this outfit!

Ah your pictures are simply breathtaking! What a gorgeous place to visit! I hope this doesn't sound too personal, but do you mind sharing your workout tips? You've got a fantastic body!

    • I've been slacking lately!! But when I get back into a routine I will definitely do a post or video. Before the wedding I was only doing about 1-2 days per week at the gym since I was traveling a lot. I always say it's 80% eating healthy, 20% exercise and staying active.

Where did you get that beautiful tan dress? It is stunning!

Floral Top + Black Pencil Skirt

Top.  Skirt is last season from Nordstrom – similar here.  Heels are sold-out Aquazzuracurrently coveting these.  Bracelets.  Tassel Earrings.  Clutch by Chanel – similar here.

First of all, how gorgeous are these stairs?!  The photos were taken at The Langham Hotel in Pasadena last week.  Imagine sipping wine on the veranda looking down over the property’s impressive lawn and palm trees… Perfection.

I love the colors in this top and I think it’s the perfect addition to sleek black pencil skirts and crisp white jeans in the spring and summer.  As I proved with plenty of wine and flatbread pizza this particular night in Pasadena, the top is very forgiving!!

The skirt I wore is from Nordstrom and I bought it for fall/winter.  I found this one for you that looks similar and may even be better than the one I’m sporting, as the current one is made from cotton and mine is an odd scuba-type fabric that can looks a bit rumpled and bumpy when washed.

This outfit is perfect for date night, a wedding, or even for work and church functions if you add a blazer or sweater.  Mix it with jeans and a leather jacket for a more casual vibe.

Happy Weekend!!

  1. Such a great look!!

  2. Kori says:

Absolutely in love with those sandals!!! OMG and your tan girl! Have a great weekend honey…hope you can come by and visit sometime! Kori xoxo

Black Floral Maxi Skirt

March 9, 2015

Categories: Fashion, Travel

Coming back from a tropical honeymoon to the snow didn’t feel fantastic.  My go-to uniform of coat, sweater, leggings, and boots has gotten so tiresome.  Ever since our return I’ve been itching to wear some Spring outfits and a family wedding in California this past weekend provided the perfect opportunity.

Dark florals like this skirt can easily bridge the gap between chilly Winter weather and warm Spring temps.  It’s flattering silhouette and subtle-yet-sexy lace inserts will make it a seasonal favorite in anyone’s closet.  I love the idea of adding a light sweater or a pale leather jacket for evenings.

For accessories, I’ve currently been drawn to tassel necklaces and beaded bracelets for a bit of a relaxed vibe.  My trusty Wayfarers give the feminine floral pattern in the skirt just a bit of edge.

What’s on your wish list this Spring??
