March 2016 Favorites

#1 – Olaplex Hair Treatment

Apply this silky-smooth cream to hair once a week before washing to strengthen and rebuild your strands. There is a matching in-salon treatment as well, but this is what I use in between salon visits to keep my hair shiny and strong. This is the first time I’ve had my hair so light and so long and I attribute it to this product.

#2 – Hot Toddy Heat & UV Protectant

A lightweight lotion that protects hair from heat and damage when applied to slightly damp hair before styling. This doesn’t weigh my hair down or cause it to feel sticky… One of the only heat protectants I can say that about.

#3 – Biore Deep Cleansing Pore Strips

I don’t know why these got pushed to the back of my product drawer. I recently rediscovered these and they’re amazing at clearing the pores around my nose.

#4 – French Girl Rose Facial Polish

A powdery scrub that smells incredible and gets skin glowing. I shake a small amount into my hand, wet with water, then exfoliate once a day.

#5 – French Girl Cleansing Wash

A gentle cleanser with a delicate rose and ylang-ylang scent. One of the only cleansers I’ve been able to use without breaking out… It’s perfect for my sensitive combination skin.

#6 – Chanel Le Coton Luxe Cotton Pads

The most luxurious cotton pads you’ll ever use. The cotton is so smooth and soft, they don’t pull at my skin when taking off makeup or scratch my skin while applying toner. These cotton pads feel like a cloud and look incredibly chic when stacked in a little dish on the bathroom counter. A tip? Cut them in half to make them last twice as long.

#7 – Boscia Konjac Sponge Mini Trio

I finally understand why everyone has been raving about these little sponges. They transform into soft, bouncy little cushions when wet and provide gentle exfoliation while lathering cleanser at the same time.

#8 – Shiseido Anti-Dark Circle Eye Cream

When my insomnia catches up with me, this eye cream is my solution. It moisturizes without being too thick or greasy. The best part? My dark circles have greatly improved after using this dream cream.

#9 – Shiseido Tinted UV Protector #2

The smoothest, creamiest tinted sunscreen formulation I’ve ever tried. This lovely product is pigmented enough to cover flaws, but sheer enough to let your skin shine through. My go-to for my everyday look.

#10 – Colorescience Sunscreen Brush in Medium

I get so happy that wonder products like this exist. A water-resistant sunscreen in a loose mineral powder formula with a brush applicator. An essential for anyone… Simply brush onto face, neck, chest, and even the tops of hands to protect your skin from harmful rays.

#11 – Cailyn Cosmetics O! Wow Brush

This brush looks odd, but looks can be deceiving… Once you use it, you’ll start wondering why every makeup brush isn’t as soft and easy to use as this one. It will give your foundation a soft, airbrushed look. Available online or at Fluff Bar Denver.

#12 – L’Oréal Lumi Cushion Foundation in Classic Buff

A medium-coverage foundation in a handy cushion compact. This product is quick and easy to apply, making it perfect for everyday wear when mornings are rushed. The best part? It’s handy to toss in your bag and touch up throughout the day.

#13 – L’Oreal Le Matte Lip Crayon in She’s So Matte

I’m loving this fresh beauty look for spring… A matte lip crayon in a beautiful rose color. Looks great with MAC’s lip liner in “Dervish”.

#14 – Diptyque Rosaviola Scent

A limited-edition scent created by French designer Olympia Le-Tan and Diptyque. A feminine fragrance with notes of roses, lipstick, and a hint of leather. Candle still available.

#15 – Ankit Pig Contact Case

Because you should be able to look at two little pink plastic pig twins when you wake up in the morning. This contact case makes me smile every day. Check out the Ankit website for cute gift ideas and more things that will make you smile too.

#16 – Royal Scout & Co. Faux Fur

Royal Scout makes the most luxurious faux fur products. Add their Boot Cuffs to your closet and instantly maximize your boot collection. Or add a luxe touch and bit of warmth to your outfits with their Wolf Wrap.

**Not mentioned in video but pictured in photos: Biossance The Revitalizer serum/moisturizer and Clinique Sugar Pot in Sweet Rose scrub/balm combo.

In honor of awards show season and the upcoming Oscars this weekend, Boohoo.com asked me to browse their dresses and style this dress for a formal event. At first, I was a bit nervous to wear the dress as it’s more sexy than my usual, more conservative style. The neckline comes to a deep ‘v’ and there are two major slits in the front of the dress. But I felt really feminine when I put the dress on and found that the long slits don’t show much unless I’m walking. The dress has a built-in bodysuit and I wore sheer black pantyhose for a little extra coverage.

A deep neckline is perfect for showcasing a long, beautiful necklace and creating a glam look. But… Deep necklines like this have to be balanced with long sleeves and long skirts. I also liked the idea of adding additional balance, warmth, and texture with a fur collar or faux fur wrap and pantyhose. The belt on this dress is removable, but I liked the definition it gives to the waist.

I’m carrying my Chanel travel wallet I’ve had for years. It’s one of my favorite pieces because it comes with a passport cover, a little folder of card slots, and a coin pouch. I find it perfect for using as a wallet when traveling, then as a clutch at night. My only complaint is that the black paint has come off the double C emblem on the front. If you get one, I suggest you purchase one with either silver or gold metal that won’t show wear and tear as much as the painted black logo.

I think this dress would go well with my fierce panther iPhone case I instagrammed recently, don’t you?!

Gold Screw Bar Bangle.  Rose Gold Modern Latch Bangle.  Rose Gold Suspended Crystal Bezel Bracelet.

The Peach Box

My motto when it comes to fashion is to save where I can, so I can splurge where I want. I save on trendy items that will only last a season or two and when I find bargain pieces at low prices. I splurge on classic investment pieces that will last me years and years.

If you’re like me, you will love The Peach Box. Their jewelry is beautiful, modern, and great quality without breaking your bank. They have pieces you can easily mix and stack with jewelry you already own to create new looks. I’ve been using these bracelets to freshen up my current arm stack and to add a little something to my outfits as I transition into spring looks.

The Peach Box invited me to choose my favorite pieces and they arrived in these sleek matte black boxes with velvety jewelry bags inside… The beautiful presentation makes their jewelry perfect to give as gifts. I was so happy with the quality and style, I’ll definitely be ordering from them again.

Keep in mind their jewelry pieces sell out quickly, but occasionally come back in stock. For example, the Rose Gold Modern Latch bangle is currently sold out, but the Yellow Gold Modern Latch bangle is still available. If you’re hooked on a specific piece, just keep checking as it may come back in stock.

Lately I’ve been enjoying the look of mixed metals… Silver with yellow gold, rose gold with yellow gold. Try mixing up some of your pieces and notice how it brings out different tones in your skin and outfits.

Are you a fan of mixed metals? Any pieces from The Peach Box that catch your eye?

Jeans.  Similar Boots.  Jacket, Sweater, and Bag: Chanel.

Thinking of Taylor Swift’s song… “Are we out of the woods yet? Are we out of the woods yet?” Woods being cold, snowy weather here in Denver. This past weekend was a dream with sunny, warm weather… And today it’s chilly with snowflakes flying. I’m so ready for spring!

This gorgeous Chanel jacket and sweater are from the Paris-Salzburg collection and are available through Chanel boutiques and by calling or visiting your local Neiman Marcus. I’ve linked two similar white jackets down below that are on sale.

Something else I’ve been wearing lately is my Marc Jacobs Decadence perfume. Between it’s sexy-woody fragrance and the floral fragrance of the Rosaviola candle I’ve been burning lately, our house kind of smells incredible. Have you found any fragrances you’re in love with lately? I’ve been wanting to try the Byredo fragrances, but I can’t seem to choose one.

If you follow me on Instagram, you probably know I’ve started working on my home office and closet projects. I met with a contractor for a 5+ hour meeting yesterday and felt so drained after. I’m not sure which project we’ll tackle first, but I’ve accumulated a stack of dog-eared catalogs and decor inspo about a foot tall. I think these projects will make our lives much easier and will add value to our home. If you have any advice or suggestions for me, I’d love to hear them before the plans and designs are set in stone!

One of my favorite places to get design inspiration is the stunning Restoration Hardware showroom at Cherry Creek Mall. The beautiful building is designed to look like a mansion and is filled with RH decor inside. I’m partial to the artwork, bookshelves, children’s bedrooms, and the rooftop patio displays. If you have a free hour or two, I highly suggest grabbing a coffee and browsing away.

I’m wearing my favorite layering jacket in these photos… It’s a must-have every woman needs in her closet. The Downtown Field Jacket is a perfect blend of casual and effortless; I often throw it over a simple knit or tee and a pair of jeans and it looks as if I’ve actually spent more than two minutes choosing my outfit for the day.

This sweater is the second Design History piece I was sent. I love the tiny beads woven throughout this beautiful, wearable knit. I wasn’t able to find this particular sweater online, but take a look at the other favorites I’ve linked below… Most are on sale now!! And be sure to check your local department stores that carry Design History; I find their pieces to be high-quality yet affordable. I have Design History pieces that have lasted me years and years of wear.

Wishing you all wonderful weekends!!

Levity Brew Coffee

If you follow me on Instagram or Snapchat (@brittanypillard) you know how much I depend on coffee to get me through the day. It’s something I look forward to in the mornings as I check emails and get my day started. Even if I’m in a hurry and on the go, I prefer to have a coffee in hand as I head out the door.

Enter Levity Brew, the perfect blend of high quality coffee and convenience. Levity Brew is a delicious blend of premium coffee, tea, and herbs that provides smooth, long-lasting energy. Having become a bit of a coffee snob as of late, I was immediately impressed with the smooth, rich taste and found that I didn’t need to use as much sweetener or cream as usual. Later in the afternoon, I didn’t have the typical caffeine crash I usually experience.

Levity Brew comes packaged in a handy Japanese pour-over filter for convenience and high brew quality. I can take the packets anywhere, open one, up and put the filter over any thermos or coffee cup. I then slowly pour hot water over the filter and steep for about two minutes. In just two easy steps I have a perfect cup of coffee and am in a much better mood (just ask J haha)

Tips For An Easy Morning:

  1. Create a weekly to-do list and update/edit each morning and evening to keep you on track.
  2. Lay out clothes, accessories, and a packed work bag or backpack the night before.
  3. Allow 20 minutes each morning for a cup of coffee, breakfast, and to browse e-mails quickly.
  4. Before you begin your day, consider your priority goals for the day and set an intention.
  5. Even if you’re working at home or in a casual office, take the time to get dressed and do your hair/makeup… It will help you feel more ready for the day and to be more productive.

Who What Wear for Target Favorites

Who What Wear for Target

ONE – V-Neck Tunic.  TWO –  Moto Jacket.  THREE – Zip Clutch.  FOUR – Floral Pencil Skirt.  FIVE – Charcoal Pencil Skirt.  SIX – Bow Blouse.  SEVEN – Polka Dot Shirt.  EIGHT – Cropped Pants.  NINE – Knotted Belt.  TEN – Trench Vest.  ELEVEN – Striped Shirt Dress.

I was hesitant to post on Target’s latest stunner collaboration – this time with Who What Wear – because I assumed it would be sold out in minutes like most of their genius team-ups. Luckily, some of the pieces are still available online even if they’re sold out in stores. Target has done a much better job preparing for this launch than previous Missoni and Lilly Pulitzer collaborations in the past.

I was unsure of sizing and fit, so I went into Target to check out the products in person. My mom was with me and we were both taken with the pretty colors, high quality fabrics, and contemporary designs.

The Who What Wear pieces are fresh, bright, versatile, and convey a distinct “street style” vibe… Most likely due to the fact the collection is made up of stylish, mix-and-match pieces inspired by fashion website Who What Wear’s online community. The pieces easily combine to create gorgeous outfits that look as if you’ve just stepped off a street style page in your favorite magazine or website. In a body-positive move, Who What Wear for Target collaboration also offers plus size options for all pieces. I’ve included both regular and plus sizes down below in the shoppable slide.

As far as sizing goes, I found most of the pieces run true to size. I did go up a size in the cropped ankle pants as my hips are the largest part of my body and I didn’t want the pants to be snug. If you order, I’d say to order your usual size and perhaps go up a size in bottoms if you don’t want them fitted.

This is a must-have collection and I think you’ll find that all the pieces coordinate in a trendy yet accessible way. I’ve posted my favorite pieces and, having snagged several of the items myself, will be styling my favorite looks in blog posts to come.

Crystal Necklace.  Sweater in Black.  Jeans.

Design History sent over a couple sweaters for me to try and I was so impressed with the quality and style I’ve been wearing them nonstop. This beautiful soft gray sweater has the most tiny, delicate sequins woven throughout that give the fabric a slight sparkle when it catches the light. I also love the soft chiffon layer underneath and across the back.

I wasn’t able to find this sweater in the soft gray online, but I was able to find it in black – and on sale. It really is a beautiful piece and it would look fantastic with the faded black ankle jeans I’m wearing in these photos.

If you’re just waiting out these chilly winter weeks like me, don’t worry… This sweater can easily transition into your spring wardrobe. Its lightweight fabric makes it perfect for spring and in-between temperatures. I think it would look great with white skinny jeans and a pair of strappy heels.

You can find a nice selection of Design History items at Bluefly, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Neiman Marcus Last Call as well. Here’s to sweaters that sparkle and rising temps…

It was great to get back to Denver after a warm weather break in Arizona (see posts 1, 2, and 3). J and I celebrated our 1-year anniversary with a romantic date night, followed by a cozy Sunday at home watching the Super Bowl together. We finally made it through all our wedding photos and shared them with family and friends. And I think we watched our wedding highlights video about 324 times.

I still have to choose favorites for our wedding album with our photographer and finish my final wedding blog post. If you’re interested in my other wedding posts, be sure to check out the WEDDING tab under CATEGORIES at the top of my website. If you’re on Instagram, look for the hashtags #TCGWedding and #HappilyEverDietzler.

Now let’s talk outfit. Lately, my favorite accessory is this pair of gorgeous deer leather and pyrite earrings from Raven and Riley. They’re beautiful on the ear, lightweight and easy to wear, and are made with 14K gold wire.

It can be difficult to find a suitable outfit with the transitional weather here in Denver this time of year. I’ve been loving long, open cardigans (“dusters”) like this one to pair with tanks and long-sleeve tees. This particular color is sold out, but I’ve linked similar ones down below. They’re flattering (because I ate far too much in Arizona!) and just warm enough for those in-between days.

To add a little edge to my outfits, I wear these faded-black, distressed ankle jeans that look fantastic with heeled booties like these. I linked the flat version of the booties down below as well.

Do you have any favorite items getting you through this transitional winter-spring time?? Any new pieces you’re excited to wear for spring??
